Lothar Götz’s latest lithograph is built up through a myriad of juxtaposing colours to engage with ideas of space and abstraction.

This signed volume brings together over 30 drawings by the artist alongside an essay by Charles Darwent. Brought together in dense compositions on painted card and board, Götz’s drawings explore the impact of using varying colours and intensities on the work’s surface.

The edition includes the four-colour lithograph Correction (2015), which layers silver, green, pink and black on white Somerset Satin. Each edition is hand-finished by the artist and contained within a custom-made slipcase. The lithograph was completed in close collaboration between Götz and Hole Editions.

This volume brings together over 30 drawings by the artist alongside an essay by Charles Darwent. Brought together in dense compositions on painted card and board, Götz's drawings explore the impact of using varying colours and intensities on the work's surface.

Engaging with ideas of space and abstraction, Lothar Götz's line drawings are built up through layers of juxtaposing colours. Perhaps best known for his large–scale wall paintings and installations, Götz's drawings lie at the centre of his practice. Brought together in dense compositions on painted card and board, Götz's thin pencil lines explore the impact of using varying colours and intensities on the work's surface.

Referencing and expanding upon the abstract language of Suprematism and the Bauhaus, the colours appear to oscillate in front of the viewer to immerse them in the surrounding space.

30×23.5cm, softback, 80 pages, 46 colour illustrations, bilingual in English and German.

"The notes on corsets, girdles, and brassieres from a French lingerie journal of the 1950s are translated in a rather literal fashion. There are no illustrations save for a drawing at the beginning – – a short girdle with a waistband under a tweed dress – – and one at the end – – a supple corset allows a décolleté for a cocktail dress – – for I am sure my reader has a playful imagination and will embellish the words with ease."

To the cropped and enlarged photograph, extracted from an underwear trade journal of the 1950s, a strip of colour, that of the packaging of the scent Allure by Chanel is added, cropping or extending the image further. Each woman is ecstatic; the touch of silk against her skin is enough to make her faint, to send into an enclosed jouissance, like those kleptomaniac patients of Gaëtan de Clérambault, for whom the squeaky sound of silk as it was rubbed provided the most intense sensation.

The speech of kleptomaniac women interviewed by Dr Gaëtan de Clérambault in 1902 is entangled with a medical analysis; the resulting text is an insistent and extended cry of fetishism for silk – an erotic passion, tactile and jouissant. V.B. says that the contact with silk is superior to its sight and that while she would like to sleep in silk, it's not her style; that's for women who are seen in bed.

Edition of 100, 15cm×11cm, 24 pages, part two of two volumes published to accompany Sharon Kivland's exhibition I am sick of my thoughts.

Du Monde/Of the World

Subscription Series 2013-2014

Domo Baal and Sharon Kivland are delighted to offer this beautiful subscription series, following the success of Reproductions I in 2012 (with many satisfied customers). The series is subtitled Du Monde/Of the World, and if you will forgive a perhaps grandiose notion, the artist has been thinking about Maurice Merleau-Ponty's account of vision and visibility (that we are looked at, in the spectacle of the world), and Jacques Lacan's commentary thereon (that the world is not exhibitionistic, it does not provoke our gaze, but when it does, the feeling of strangeness begins). But enough of that!

There are thirteen books in the series, which is limited to an edition of 50. Each book, between 16 and 36 pages, draws on the artist's collections of postcards, magazines, cuttings, and other printed ephemera, in another attempt to organise, catalogue, and archive. There is little text, apart from the title and usual colophon material. The books are black and white, printed on an ivory 120gsm Munken paper, stapled with a square spine, each: 19cm by 15cm. Subscribers received one book each month.

The complete series is now offered neatly and attractively housed in a handsome bespoke slipcase, made by Book Works Studio in London. Titles are as set out below.
