Lothar Götz’s latest lithograph is built up through a myriad of juxtaposing colours to engage with ideas of space and abstraction.
This signed volume brings together over 30 drawings by the artist alongside an essay by Charles Darwent. Brought together in dense compositions on painted card and board, Götz’s drawings explore the impact of using varying colours and intensities on the work’s surface.
The edition includes the four-colour lithograph Correction (2015), which layers silver, green, pink and black on white Somerset Satin. Each edition is hand-finished by the artist and contained within a custom-made slipcase. The lithograph was completed in close collaboration between Götz and Hole Editions.

'In 1897, Alexander Graham Bell was elected president of the National Geographic Society and wanted to produce a magazine that appealed to a wide range of people, not just the scientific elite – and he insisted on 'pictures, and plenty of them – the world and all that is in it, is our theme, and if we can't find anything to interest ordinary people in that subject, we better shut up shop and become a strict, technical, scientific journal for the high class geographers and geological experts.' Hirst's installation 'the world and all that is in it' echoes and applauds this ambition by looking at the relationships between language, image and happenstance.'
